    Tempe Police Incident: Officer Strikes Woman, Charges Filed & Dismissed

    A Tempe police incident involved an officer striking Ms. Bonner after she allegedly hit him. Initial felony charges fell through, but violation charges may be refiled. A viral video shows the confrontation, prompting an internal review.

    ” The way we de-escalate is to restrain everybody, everybody goes in handcuffs, then we see what happened. … Regrettably, Ms. Bonner really felt the requirement to prosecute or damage up what was occurring in the road,” he said.

    Officer’s Account & De-escalation Attempt

    A Tempe authorities sergeant declares Bonner struck the officer numerous times in the face prior to he threw the punch and even attempted to level felony worsened attack fees before resolving for the violations.

    “She punches him five times in the face. He strikes her one time, trying to de-escalate a chaotic scene in the center of a street … I don’t know exactly how they can have done it any much better,” Sgt. Rob Ferraro, that is also president of the Tempe Officers Association, told The Post. Ferraro was not involved in the case and does not talk on the division’s behalf.

    Tempe Police Department’s Official Response

    Tempe Cops Department claimed in a declaration: “Constant with our plans, this event is presently under management evaluation. The video of the case, along with all other offered evidence, will certainly be meticulously evaluated as component of that process.”

    Nevertheless, the authorities division kept in mind that violation charges were also submitted with the city in July and were disregarded after the felony fees fell through– but “with the specific intent to refile them,” Tempe Cops Division representative Heather Lerman told The Blog post on Tuesday.

    “It is absolutely imperative that we as a society inspect police … [] occasionally there are actors that will wish to take advantage of something, or use it as a payday, or otherwise accept responsibility,” he suggested.

    A viral video uploaded to social networks shows Bonner shouting “allow him go” as polices appear to subdue a person before her– before an officer apparently pushes Bonner to the ground, tackles her as she stands up and strikes her as she struggles on the floor.
