Chilean Duo Charged in Major Athlete Home Robberies

Two Chilean men are charged in a series of home robberies targeting top US athletes, including NFL stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, stealing over $3.5 million in luxury items. They also robbed former tennis champion Juan Martín Del Potro.

The burglars, who traveled to the US for the criminal offenses, timed their robberies to accompany the athletes’ away games, and swiped watches, money, fashion jewelry and various other luxury things after getting into their homes totaling over $3.5 million, according to the Justice Division.

The authorities discovered that Cartes and Freraut belonged to a South American crime ring that stole from the homes of high-profile United States athletes including NFL stars Mahomes and Joe Burrow, NBA gamer Bobby Portis and Kansas City Chiefs professional athlete Kelce, future husband of pop megastar Taylor Swift.
